Bay Jackson, vice president of charge card operations for First National Bank at Eastern North' Carolina, More than 100 banks in North Carolina now offer charge card programs—all of which have been similar. The new twist, as disclosed by Jackson, will be the pro motion of First National’s card as "the only bank charge card that offers a 20% time bonus," Jackson said. With Christmas approaching, and purchases running higher than at any other time In re cent history, Jackson said the "20% time bonus’ feature is designed as an inducement for getting Christmas shoppers to use First National’s card. "The20%feature refers to the feet that First National's card is offering a full 30 days with out service charge on retail purchases Instead of only IS days as with other fasdk cards.” When asked about "accepta bility* of one card over another by merchants, Jackson empha sised that most cards Qnclud-' ing Us) are members of the “Interbank” system and thus bare equal acceptability.
